Pumpkin Patch mini sessions

There’s something about fall that just feels like magic — the cooler air, the shifting light, the way everything turns golden and warm. For our family, that feeling starts long before the sweaters and cider. It starts in the dirt.

Our pumpkin patch isn’t just a backdrop — it’s a project my boys and I start from scratch every summer. We choose the seeds together (Jack-Be-Littles, Sugar Pies, and some funky heirloom ones that grow like little goblins), then we get to work. Mounds are built. Seeds are dropped in. Dirt is everywhere. It’s not Instagram-pretty when we plant it — but it’s real.

Watching the vines stretch and the blossoms open is one of my favorite parts of the growing season. Every year we wonder: Will we get enough? Will they ripen in time? Will the boys stop stepping on them when they chase the chickens? But somehow, it always works. Come October, our field is dotted with beautiful orange pumpkins — some big, some tiny, all planted and grown with love.

Pumpkin Patch Minis are special to me because they’re built around something we created together as a family. When your kids sit among those pumpkins, they’re surrounded by something that was grown for them. Not from a store. Not rented or staged. Real. Just like the moments we capture.

These sessions are warm, playful, and totally laid-back. Your kids can explore, pick a pumpkin, or just be themselves while I photograph the honest, beautiful chaos that happens when kids are outdoors and having fun.
